Proposed timetable and venue changes for 2012

This page summarizes the timetable and lecture venue changes that are planned for 2012.

Please send comments to Pat Terry as soon as possible. We have to finalize the timetable entry in the printed Calendar very soon now.

This version : 2011/12/12     Changes since first release highlighted in red

As always, changes to times have been kept to a minimum. Many of them arise from the need better to allocate venues to large senior classes such as in Pharmacy and Accounting.

A large number of venue changes are proposed. These are mostly predicated by the crisis in Pharmacy and Accounting where the classes have been outstripping the venues previously allocated. So I have arranged to accommodate Pharmacy 2 in Chem Minor for nearly all classes, Pharmacy 3 in Geography G11 for all classes, and Pharmacy 4 in Economics A for nearly all classes. I have also tried to keep Economics 338 and Economics C as clear as possible to enable them to be used for tutorials, and relocated the BComF program to the Sociology department.

Changes to times and proposed changes to venues are summarized below by department.

Please bear in mind that the pressure on venues is now (in principle) very problematic. Poor lecture attendance "helps" but the fact remains that we are now overbooking venues quite badly in some situations. A study of the allocation tables on the web site will reveal that the bigger venues are very heavily booked, so there is little room for manoeuvre, and in particular the often touted "solution" of "move lectures to the afternoon" might well create more problems than it could ever hope to solve!
